There has always been one NBA player that stands out when discussing an overrated member of a team.
These players are heavily protected by the media, the fanbase, or even their teams when it comes to attention or even minutes earned.
In 2023-24, every NBA team has one overrated player who is benefitting from too much praise.
It is always tempting to throw Trae Young’s name into any conversation about overrated players in the NBA.
But the fact of the matter is that Young is putting up excellent offensive numbers without much help.
The Hawks’ most overrated player has to be De’Andre Hunter because he hasn’t improved as much as we would have expected on both ends of the court.
Hunter is still only 26 years old so he has time but he needs to start showing his true potential at some point over the next few seasons.
The Celtics don’t have many overrated players this season because of how dominant they have been.
However, the Celtics probably could’ve found a better backup big man than Luke Kornet who is only posting 5.1 points per game and doesn’t excel in any particular area despite earning over 15 minutes per game
Boston is tied with regards to their roster because of their "Big 6" salaries, but expect them to be in the market for more depth this summer.
