Starbucks is known for creating innovative and delicious drinks, but the Oleato line may be one of its oddest.
Starbucks' new olive oil-infused coffee drinks are available in the US today after debuting in Italy last month.
Former Starbucks CEO Howard Shultz, who left the firm recently, says he was inspired for the Oleato brand while touring in Sicily. Schultz followed
the Mediterranean tradition of having a teaspoon of olive oil with his morning coffee. This led him to test the two together, and he was
pleased by the "unexpected, velvety, buttery flavor that enhanced the coffee and lingers beautifully on the palate."
Starbucks Reserve Roasteries in Chicago, Seattle, and New York will launch the Oleato line in the US, according to a statement.
The new Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building store, the original Starbucks store in Seattle's Pike Place Market,
and the Starbucks Reserve stores in SoDo Seattle and Greenwich Lane in New York City will also introduce the drinks on March 23.
